Books from Finland!

A package from Finland from my mother always means books and magazines and chocolate in the winter and good things!

Todays books: a great art book for Minerva and Marimekko's sewing book (now I need a sewing machine)

Cookbooks are always present... Gwyneth Paltrows surprisingly good cookbook and The Humming Bird Bakery's Cake Book... yummy!

 Books for Minerva, recommended by Heli <3... Minerva read them     as soon as she came home from school and loved them..

   Muses (?) and Paul Auster for me... 

  So... the sofa and books call me...

Knitting

I did a little exchange of skeins with a friend, and just look at all the extra yummies she put in the box!!!

All things one misses when away from Finland... THANK YOU!!!

And then some quicky knitting... Little Things by Veera Välimäki, knitted in 100% merino sock yarn from Handu in the 'Laps olen köyhän' colourway...

I love the way the edge striped and the rest pooled... funfunfun!

A lovely friend painted Oliver ... so Oliver and so beautiful and such a lovely thought... I burst into tears when I opened the package... This will be framed as soon as possible!

And a crochet flower... it'll adorn a summer hat... I'm still deciding ,but it might be brown... =)

Ravelry Exchange!!!!

I took part in an exchange among finnish Ravelers and received a beautiful red package in the mail yesterday from Thuja!

The box was red, and this was what I found as I opened it:

RED!!! The best milk chocolate, salty licorice and a lovely little box from Marimekko...

             A skein of sockyarn from The Sanguine Gryphon,

                                    Spinning fibre from Skein,

     A lovely red pouch with a rooster embroidered in cross stitch,

             And a card with Jan Van Eyck's 'Man with a Turban'

There are wonderful friends in my computer!

It's been a rough year so far, and I think I would have gone nuts without internet and all the lovely and dear friends, old and new, that it keeps in my life. Yesterday was Valentine's day, and my family gave me some wonderful handmade chocolates (no photos), and then I received a package in the mail!!! A little package that cheered me up SO much... from a fellow-knitter and Raveler... Thank you Pampula!

                     Chocolate, licorice, a nice note and an awesome John Wayne kitchen towel!!!

Housecleaning with elegance!

Another package waiting for me on my return from the holidays... From a dear schoolfriend who is in Cornwall and is an artist, made by her for ME!!!!

Flowers and ribbons and tulle and satin... =)

I must have been very good...

    When one has been very good, one may receive a package like this in the mail!!! =)
    This was waiting for me here at home and it is GORGEOUS!!!! Alpaca-silk yarn to be precise...

I sent a little box of goodies to a friend who always remembers me and my family and who has had a little rough autumn, and asked Minerva ,my 9 year old, if she'd like to make a drawing to include in the box. With her usual determination she sat down after doing homework and started drawing.

She didn't ask me what to draw or for ideas, and next time I looked she had filled a sheet of paper with birds!!! I almost wanted to keep it for myself , but it had been drawn for Merja so we took photographs and sent it along! Now that the packet has arrived at destination I can show the drawing...

And last but not least, Minerva, my youngest, got mail from the future Queen of Sweden, Princess

Viktoria and her husband Daniel, with a photo and their autographs!!! She had sent a card drawn by her  in June when they got married and now she received this! You can imagine that she was rather happy!

My friend Heli was the one to suggest sending a card, because when she was little she had done the

same at Viktoria's parent's wedding and had received a letter from them... Forever thankful for the tip...

my daughter will always remember this!  <3

More Shoes!

My mother went to Paris for four days and happened to go to the Camper shop with sales going on....

purple for me, orange for Luca and ballerinas for Aurora

Happiness is a mother who understands Camper shoes!

PACKAGE!!!

My package arrived!!! I participated in an exchange on Ravelry, among the Kahelit group, and today the postman brought me a lovely pink package from Turku!!! All this wonderful stuff was inside:

250 grams of Cascade Eco wool in a bright fuchsia, my first Cascade! A lovely little skein of lace weight yern by Ornaghi lane, fazer chocolate, salmiakki, LOTS of buttons (wooden ones and some that seem vintage), a package of Hello Kitty paper handkerchiefs and a nice card!!! Thank you Tui, lovely package! =)

I've got mail...again!!!

I received another beautiful package!!! Some real sheep wool... the natural kind that here in Italy I have never seen... the kind that smells of sheep! So I've been burying my nose in this since yesterday! Thank you...
