My mother stole my tent!

Remember Oliver in the Ikea kid's tent? Well, we took the tent down today, so that we can get the room a bit organized, and you should have seen Oliver's look??? Like... WTF??? He looked so lost and disappointed that I had to open the wardrobe drawer and let him return to his favourite sleeping place ... as you can see, I knit garments for someone's pleasure!!!

ANOTHER Great Mail Day!!!!

Yet another incredible mail day! I could get used to this!!!! =)

An exchange with the Kahelit-group on Ravelry... the idea was to give away something from your stash that didn't speak to you anymore... I have some doubts that these don't speak to someone, they're gorgeous!!

2 skeins of Drops Alpaca in blue, with beads to go with them... maybe I'll finally tackle beading? =)

2 skeins of Sisu in a deep brown...  some Sisu is always needed (look it up in the dictionary...it's finnsih!)

And a lovely pink skein of Kainuunharmas hand-dyd by Ilu ... I LOVE this yarn!

A bag of blue beads, some buckles and a little torch and... SALTY LICORICE!!!!!

Then... there was a package from Marjut... a very funny book with personalized autograph!!! Lucky lucky me! THANK YOU!!!

And then... there was a little Extra package, just to keep my weight up! 4 , yes 4, Fazer chocolate bars ... my very favourite, and three boxes of ... yes Sisu, only this time it's not yarn but licorice!!! =) You see... we finns are very proud of our SISU! Kirsi, the family thanks you!

The mailman is always so happy to bring me packages... to thank him I ordered his little daughters a letter from Santa Claus, straight from Korvatunturi... =)

Viktoria and her husband Daniel, with a photo and their autographs!!! She had sent a card drawn by her  in June when they got married and now she received this! You can imagine that she was rather happy!

My friend Heli was the one to suggest sending a card, because when she was little she had done the

same at Viktoria's parent's wedding and had received a letter from them... Forever thankful for the tip...

my daughter will always remember this!  <3

As Always, our gnomes in the garden remembered us today, before Halloween!

Minerva took them some clementines, and found a red hat full of delicious candy!

The hat was surely for tomorrow, since it had a nice Jolly Roger on it!

I love the fall, I love mandarins and clementines, I love pomegranates, I love candles, I love  the rain the storms the windy sea, I love Christmas carols and these months that lead to Christmas...

Cats

 My almost ten year old still loves putting up the ancient Ikea kids tent and playing, and she's not the only one!

   Lots of blankets and things to sleep on...

      And then there is my other little cat... doing her homework.

   The hat helps the concentration      I'm told!

Shawl for breast cancer

A dear friend was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of September, and operated on October the sixth... on that same day her pattern for this Beautiful shawl was released.

                           Alina by Merja Korhonen  knit in Posh Yarn Sophia 2ply...

We are having a Knit ALong in various groups on Ravelry ,since  part of the proceeds of the pattern sale will go to cancer research in Finland, AND October is the month of prevention!

The shawl is a cloud of cashmere softness,  and I gave it to Tiina, my finnish friend in Italy, for her birthday! (which is in December! =))

 Sunday lunch was very autumny today... polenta with sausages in tomato sauce

 missing just the sprinkling of parmesan on top...

and gorgeous pomegranate for dessert!! Look like little rubies...

Today is Pink ribbon day , October is Pink Ribbon month, and so on...

Crafty and Creative Kid

My children have always collected sticks and stones and bones and things; it has been their passion always and these things find their way into glass jars and plates and baskets allover the house.

Some time ago Matteo gathered some bones and seashells and came up with this!

I still need to find a good place to hang it!

Having a Cat

This unfortunately happens once in a while when you live with a cat... it's his nature and he so proudly donates them to me... Lizards and geckos and snakes do not get killed, but the little birds die most of the time, though not always

Official cinnamon roll day!

Today is the official cinnamon roll day (Korvapuustipäivä) so ofcourse I had to bake... =) It also happened to be the day that Minerva started her swimming lessons again, and Matteo has to be taken to driving school and Aurora and Matteo had to go get something written in their scuba diving books... so, between one drive and the other we baked these and had them for dinner, either with a glass of milk or with tea....Yummy!

A slight obsession with glassjars!

I have a slight obsession with BIG glass jars! I absolutely love them, and bottles and ...

These three are usually by my bed... they are full of things that the children have found such as sea shells, sea urchin skeletons, stones and... a cat's skull...

Then there are these two bottles of wine that one finds among the rubbish after bottling season... I have given some of these away and the smaller one still needs to be properly washed, while the bigger one keeps our collection of gass marbles.

 Then there are these two... ugly picture but anyway... these are being filled with leftover yarn, until I                  decide how to use the yarn...

The first of a series

 My son asked for a super slouchy hat, and since I wasn't sure what he wanted I made one for myself first... My son likes it and my daughter wants it!!! And it's Wollmeise yarn, so I'd love to keep it myself!!! I guess not, huh?   Well, it means this is the first of a series...

The pattern is Sockhead, and the yarn is Wollmeise Twin in the colourway Sabrina...
